[NSRCA-discussion] Li-ion Batteries

I flew all last season with Li-ion batteries from Central,their NMP brand 2200mah 2 cell pack.
This past Winter I purchased two more and these came with a balancing lead attached. The first pack didn't have a balancing lead.
None of the three packs mentioned anything about balancing the cells.

How important is it to balance these packs?

Does balancing the individual cells in a pack mean their voltage will then be identical?
