John,

What pipe? What fuel? What prop are you using?
Lengthen your pipe till the midrange richness goes away.  My OS will do the
same thing.  The needle on mine is about 3/4 turn out also .  I would not
mess with the pump till you have tried lengthening the pipe.  This almost
always fixes that problem.  Less load(smaller prop) on the engine shorten
pipe, more load(larger prop)lengthen the pipe.
