[NSRCA-discussion] Speaking of cool glues...

I use Sig-Bond for gluing the sheeting together. It sands easily - much better than CA. Not as fast as CA but it's not bad. It's plenty strong and when you sand the skins you can't see or feel the seams.

I still use Ambroid for making up wing skins. It sands nice and doesnt leave a seam that shows through the monokote. But it definately dries slow.

Was this the stuff that made you feel better the longer you worked on the model?

Just be happy with regular cyanoacrylates.......do you remember Ambriod? It could be worse...oh by the way I have a UV fiber optic light source in my garage.

OK, at second glance, I guess this isn't so reasonable for our use. The Hand Held LED Light Source sells for $895!

        YOWSA!!!

I haven't found a price for the glues yet.

Surely there's an alternative solution for the light source.

I was at my son's orthodontist yesterday and he showed me the glue they use to attach brackets to teeth. It's a waxy looking one part glue that's light activated. This allows the orthodontist plenty of time to apply the glue and place the bracket in place, then they shine an intense light on it and it hardens. There's no mixing of multiple parts, no rush to get it in place before it hardens, no running, sticking to the fingers, etc.

After searching the Internet I found that loctite has a product called "FlashCure" that's a light activated CA!!!

        http://www.instantsolutions.loctite.com/faster_lightcure.htm

Anyone know if there are additional light activated glues that may be useful in model building?
