[NSRCA-discussion] YS160 Piston problems

Come on John... it's not the bearings... it's the greasing of the
gearbox...lol. I'm sure YS is already working on a replacement piston that
will solve the problem.

Nice. Well, the bearings in my OS 160 are still fine... Sorry guys. You
knew someone had to do that. Seriously, how does the pin go into the piston?
Is it held with clips? I wonder if the fit is too tight. Full floating pins
(pins that ARE held with clips) should be fairly loose in the piston and the
rod. Maybe it's just a fit problem and not a weakness. If anybody has a new
motor it might be worth taking it apart to see if the pin fit is really
tight.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced a problem with the
piston cracking arounf the wrist pin boss. I now have a second one with this
same problem. It like the first one was running like gangbusters and
gradually started losing power. On tear down the cracked piston was very
evident. Going to send this one baxck to YS with the first piston also.
Looks like the larger piston in the 160 is weak in the center.

Gary Courtney here in Huntsville, AL just told me tonite that his
piston had done this and he discovered it today.
