[NSRCA-discussion] 2007 Master turnaround question

Thanks for the clarification. I did read the page referenced but didn't
find the answer except downgrades the same as a split S. I wasn't sure how
to interpret the 2/4 as to if it had a line segment after the second roll or
not. Obvious others weren't sure either.

Thanks

Stuart

No no no we went through this months ago. Troy and the rest of the sequence
group chimed in and told us the answer. You guys that have questions need to
get a rule book and read it. The changes to the rule book are at the link
below. These descriptions will tell you what it looks like. The Aresti that
was posted on the FG site will show you a picture of what it loops like. In
the Description is says replace the 1/2 roll with a 2/4pt roll.

Split S and Immelmann type figures always have the roll elements followed
immediately after of before the loop segment same as bunt elements. The 2 of
4 pt roll ends when its wings hit level Just like the 1 of 2pt roll that we
call a 1/2 roll.

When the wings hit level after the second rolling portion of the 2/4pt the
model must immediately begin to loop. This is not a 2/4pt roll added to a
1/2 loop its says Split S with 2/4pt roll . There is no equal length line
segment to match up. When a guy does a 4pt roll. the elements are

<<<straight line entry

roll

pause on knife

roll

pause on inverted

roll

pause on knife

roll

straight line exit. >>>

Otherwise the center of the 4pt roll would not be the middle of the inverted
position. If you look the exact middle of these elements is the middle of
the inverted hesitation or pause. Think about it...its a roll right so the
roll elements are what is important not the hesitations. Yes the hesitations
have to be the same but there is not hesitation after the last roll element.

Definition from the rule book is:

Four-Point Roll. Model rolls through 360 degrees, hesitating at each 90
degree point; at each hesitation wings are parallel or vertical to the
horizon. Center is middle of inverted flight. Downgrades:

            1. One-quarter rolls more or less than 90 degrees.

            2. Model does not hesitate after each one-quarter
roll.

            3. Roll rate not constant.

            4. Changes in altitude.

            5. Changes in heading.

Read this carefully model rolls through 360 degrees.....So when its
completed its 360 its done add the exit line and go to the next maneuver in
the sequence. There are only 3 hesitations but there are (4) 90 degree roll
elements. Thus a 4pt roll.

On a normal split S the roll element is completed when the wings hit level
this is a 1 of 2pt roll correct for short we call it a 1/2 roll?

In this case its a 2/4 roll. The roll sections define the type of roll not
the pause sections. This is the same as with 4pts 8pts and 1/2 rolls. The
roll sections determine what kind of roll and these roll portions are the
important part not the hesitations.

To have a 2/4, you need to have two line segments of equal length (obviously
with a roll in-between!) Once the second line segment has been completed,
the loop begins immediately. Does this answer your question?

In the new schedule for masters is a split S with a 2/4 before the half
loop.

Question is the half loop right after the second roll or is the second point
defined before the loop?

Thanks,

Stuart
