Here's the description of the Square Horizontal Eight:

"Model pulls up and commences a square loop, when at the bottom of the third 
leg it does a complete square outside loop behind the inside loop before 
pulling up to level flight."  (Competition Regulations, 1994 and 1995)

Obviously, if you enter inverted, you push up, do three sides of an outside 
square loop, then a complete inside square behind the outside loop before 
pushing up to level flight.

I don't think the description of how to fly it has changed in the last 10 
years or so...
