[NSRCA-discussion] Fuel line question-Data

I agree.
This also agrees with some very rough testing I did a few years ago.
There were rumors that larger line would make a SuperTigre 2300 run better.
My rough tests showed medium line provided plenty of flow, and large line a bit better.
Changing to the large line on the engine made no noticable difference in practice.

  Vicente,

Chris' data is perfectly valid regardless of whether one uses a pump. It is simply the flow possible (maximum flow) in each type of fuel line under each level of pressure. You can standardize each flow in terms of ozs/min to see the differences the get a feel for the flow capacity under each set of conditions.

The whole point is that no Pattern engine uses anywhere near the flow capacity of each set of conditions tested. Therefore, a medium sized line will have the required capacity to feed the typical Pattern engine.

Can someone explain what the data means? I assume that is the time to move 14 oz out of the tank. In the first test, the tank is empty in 2 min 15 sec using the medium fuel line. The time is reduced to 1 min 30 sec using the large fuel line. As we can see the flow is very high compared to the actual flow we use. Around 14 oz in 10 minutes. Furthermore, we use fuel pumps so the actual difference in pressure drop are not affecting the motor. Therefore, I think this information is valid for non pumped engines. In other worlds, I don't think that the diameter of the fuel line will help too much in pumped engines unless the lines are very long. I don't think is the case in the standard set up we use for pattern.

    Have a nice weekend,

      Real data - great.

Here is some tests I performed, you might find interesting. Chris
