[NSRCA-discussion] Hysol 9462

Also, 9462 does not stick very well to wood. It is so thick that it just
sits on top of the wood and you can flick it off with your finger.
When cured, it is so hard that a file must be used to shape it.
I made the mistake of filling a few pinholes with it and it got
ugly..fast.
And it's heavy..
Short nozzles are available.

As Dave replied it is a Loctite product. Sold as Aeropoxy by BVM, and
available elsewhere. I have been told by several modelers that it works
extremely well, wth excellent adhesion to composite materials. The long
mixing nozzle is an added bonus for certain applications where you want
to lay down a bead at the edge of a component. Unfortunately if you
only need a small amount then using the mixing nozzle would seem like a
waste of material.

I think the problem lies in the mix for me. Product mixed by hand
hardened real well while product expressed through the nozzle did not.

Stuart

Something is wrong. Remove and clean the adhesive off. I am very
familiar with many Hysol adhesives, but unfamiliar with Hysol 9462. In
addition I cannot locate any info on 9462 on the Hysol-Henkel
website(all epoxies have a 93XX designation), which leads me to believe
that it is a repackaged-renamed adhesive or it is NOT an epoxy, could be
an acrylic. If it has a VERY strong smell then it is an acrylic. What
ever it is you have a mix ratio error, and it is not going to get better
if it has been 24 hours above 75F.

For those who have experience with Hysol 9462, sold as aeropoxy through
Bob Violett and others.
I used it last night for the first time. I have the cartridge system
and long mixing applicators. After about 19 or 20 hours the glue has
not hardened. It has thickened but it is still soft enough to move
around. Is this normal or should I pull the parts apart clean and
re-glue? The application was done in my basement and I am guessing that
the temp is about 70 degrees.
Thanks for any help.
