[NSRCA-discussion] rookie judge

Whoever voted no for RCA-07-8 sure got it right. The justification was based on mother Nature (whom we cannot control) and penalizes those who handle changes. The pilots who take off left to right ALWAYS -even downwind, can now change after takeoff and land upwind FOR FREE. All this based on a few emotional diatribes that nobody challanged, but a few of us, and then when submitted realized that there was no penalty for a change that others flew through. At best they should lose points for not having the skill to handle what others are. Saving a plane is fine ,but it's your choice and you should pay an appropiate penalty for it!!!!!!!!!!!

The proposals are in and have passed a initial vote the only difference from the old way is the model doesn't have to stand still before the takeoff roll, so yes it will if passed by final vote scoring will be 0-10 in 1/2 point increments. RCA-07-02, RCA-07-09. There was only one vote against either of these proposals and that was district XI. This if passing the final vote will take effect on Jan.1 2007.

They should be scored. IMHO, it was a mistake to change the rule.

Speaking of scoring takeoffs and landings. . . . . does anyone have an opinion either way??

It works for me every time I judge. . . .
Yeah, but those pesky takeoff and landing scores give you away every time.

This will be my first time at the Nats so please advise. I understand that I
am to help judge but my issue with it is I don't think I would be a good
judge. I can do sportsman but it just would not be fair to the advanced guys
please advise ( i will if its a must but i would be a much better scribe)

Let me expand on what Arch wrote. The AMA property has three flying
sites that we use for competition. We use two sites for the Master
and F3A classes. One site is used for Intermediate and Advanced. As
a result of requiring each class of pilots to judge the next 'lower'
class, Advanced can't fly at the same time as Intermediate. The same
is true for Master and F3A. Master pilots judge Advanced and F3A, so
they must fly in different sessions. So, one session (either morning
or afternoon on alternating years) will have Intermediate and Master
pilots competing. The other session will have Advan! ce! d and F3A
competing. I hope this helps.
