Dean,

Some will disagree - but - here are some considerations -

Changes in weather will change engine power - and therefore the "best" curve or power at the notch - setting this up every day will drive you nuts.

In calm air, the throttle controls airspeed and PACE.  When the wind blows, you want to use the throttle to control PACE to maintain the same presentation - that means different settings for into the wind, and downwind, and the differential between the two increases as the wind increases.  The actual airspeed of the plane changes quite a bit as well.

Prop and engine setup can go a long way to making a more constant speed setup - but there are no tricks to learn good throttle management other than practice.  FWIW - I run tight TX springs, but have the ratchet filed 90% away on the throttle stick and the tension is quite low.
