It can be done either way.  Personally I think it presents better by doing
it positive...others disagree, but I think you can maintain the shape of the
loop better with a positive snap.

snap roll, positive or negative, recovers to complete the loop and finishes
in level upright or inverted flight."

That is the total description in the AMA rule book.

I believe the AMA rulebook gives you both for clarity, it you pull into the
loop you need to do a negative snap.  You have to pull in the Advanced
sequence because the plane is entering the maneuver upright.

Of course, I just started to fly Intermediate, so I may be wrong <G>
