 In defense of the AMA they look to the NSRCA for guidance and advise and we work together in a pretty amicable way.

  Exactly how or why the AMA gained this status, I'm not sure.  It has to do with the CAA. (It goes back to the late 1930's or early 1940's.)
   
  Suffice it to say, there has to be ONE organization that picks the teams/competitors which represent the US for FAI.  Just as there is only one organization which picks the teams/competitors representing the US for the Olympics.  AMA "got elected" long ago.

    Can someone point me to what gives the AMA the exclusive rights to select the teams for FAI world level competitions? I know the AMA is a national org for this country but what would keep an independent org from fielding a team? Does FAI give Devine rights to AMA? What if we had a national org for just pattern fliers? Oh wait, we do. J Just wondering.
