As I suspected the Iota is identical to the CAE !!! and I just paid Tanic $249 for the CAE. The only difference is the label.
It is a great peice of equipment, no noise and negligible heat generation at a 250w rate, and it is rated at 650w. Also it is light enough to mount on your fieldbox.
While I'm on the subject dont buy a Pyramid power supply. That was another $100 I wasted. Nat

I found the specs on the CAE, and it appears to be a constant 13.6v output (13.4v under full load) so for purposes of supplying power for lipo chargers, it would be fine.
The Iota converters that I am aware of (not sure if they are the same as the ones mentioned before) are for RV use and have the ability to do multi-stage charging of 12v lead-acid batteries, but you have to purchase an optional controller to do this -- not really necessary unless you connect the converter to a 12v battery for long periods. These make really great automotive battery chargers, BTW.
