[NSRCA-discussion] Hamburg Contest

Del,
With the cost of gas these days, multi-axel highway tolls and the
gas consumption of a of a truck pulling a camper from Buffalo NY, I would be
hard pressed to see that as much of a "free ride". If the campground fees in
a holiday resort area like the Pocono's/Delaware Water Gap region, are a
deal breaker, I can see that.

Many of the sites that we travel too are not that great for a pattern
contest. The Pocono site is in a deep valley with nasty winds. You fly with
the sun in you eyes for a large part of the day. Add to that a beautiful
backdrop of green mountains that unfortunately help your plane disappear at
the bottom of turnarounds etc., and it is not that rewarding a journey.

Compare that to your Hamburg event where the camping is free, they feed you
till you are full and the sun is at you back most of the day, The site is
well prepared and relatively bug free. Given the chance, I made it to every
Hamburg contest that I could. Hope it comes back.

BTW - You Hamburg NY guys are great and even though a (g) was put after the
"free-ride" remark below, it did not make it funny!

Regards,

Eric.
