Hi Terry,
You could be correct. I believe that YS manual recommends not to use Castor oil. However, I don't remember what is the exact reason. I was relying on my bad memory. Probably is a combination of factors. What about gaskets? I remember that we had to use "Free leak gaskets". I wonder if this has to do with the type of oil used. Also, I wonder if castor change the viscosity to a point that will cause problems in the YS motors. As you said, we need someone with a lot of experience in YS. Probably, someone could ask Richard Verano.
I got YS 160 for next season, and I am planing to run 100% synthetic to make sure that the warranty covers. I will try to avoid as much as possible lean runs.
Say hello,

Vicente,
Castor does not hurt the diaphram in YS's. It is the petroleum based products that do. Castor is not ran in YS because it carbons up worse. The higher heat of a 4 stroke, and castor can carbon up everything for the exhaust valve to the tuned pipe, and everthing in between. It does make things more forgiving to lean runs, as castor usually has a higher flash point than synthetics. If I am wrong here, maybe Troy can chime in on the whatnots of YS's. He has a lot of experience with YS and fuels of all types. Terry

What is the effect of castor oil on the pump diafragm? I understood that we can not use Castor oil in YS because of the diaframs and regulators parts. I am not sure now if castor oil couls cause similar problems in OS 140 RX pump and the and the Perry pump.
