I'd like nothing more than to see the new FAI convention overturned ASAP.

8 radii in a manuever, 7 are the same, 1 is different.  Downgrade should be for one bad radius - matters not whether it was radii 1, 8, or 5 that was mismatched.

The new FAI convention may simplify the judging process, but it is at the cost of accuracy.  1 step forward, 2 steps back.
