That would also impart a small side-thrust.... since its only a few degrees of ar you are moving the ring, it won't be much, but its there.

Subject: [NSRCA-discussion] Nose-ring & new email
Hi All,
I wanted to share something I did on my nose-ring the other night that made a thrust adjustment pretty easy. I need to add some downthrust and using the Budd Mount (rotational dampening), I had to add a shim under the motor mount to get the angle I wanted. The angle looked nice and actually centered the spinner a little better so I did not feel the need to redrill for a new mount position (shim was fine). However, the original nose-ring positon stopping the small change from taking place once everything was lined up. So I wanted to redrill the nose-ring attachment but when in the new position, the "new" position was about 1/2 the diameter off the original holes. I did not want to "slot" the holes, so what was I to do?
I found that if I used one of the original nose ring mounting holes, I could position the motor where I wanted and the other "new" hole was now about 2-diameter away from its original location. Seeing this, I simply measured and drilled only one side a new hole, and the new thrust was set! Easy to do and took just a short time.
Thanks,
Jim W.
