Some answers -
1. Haven't tried, sorry.
2. Yes. And Futaba's is $$$ (comparatively) See answer #4
3. Jason answered this one.
4. Go to your local Best Buy and get a Sony camcorder battery - NP-F570.
Exact replacement, except it says Sony, and is dark brown rather than white.
Half the price of Futaba. Buy two, and just keep extra charged ones with
you, so you don't need the charger for #2. Best Buy also had a 12v charger
for the Sony batteries, that could be modified (new end plug) to mate to the
14MZ. Same price as a battery, so I just bought another battery, instead.

Gossip and rumor is that FROMECO is coming out with an adaptor board that
will allow you to mount their batteries inside the 14MZ for more capacity.

Subject: [NSRCA-discussion] 14mz questions

Just received my 14MZ and have a few questions.

1. Does the fuse mount DSC receptacle that came with the 9Z series radios
work on the 14MZ ??
2. To charge the TX battery in the TX, does it require a different charger
?? It appears so.
3. Has anyone replaced the stick springs themselves ?? Is it easier or
harder than the 9Z ??
4. The TX battery, is there anything else available commercially or do I
need to buy a spare from Futaba ??

TIA...Ed M.
