I was just "stirring the pot'. I remember basements well from my youth, through college.

Basement? I've heard of those. Aren't they kinda like caves? Aren't they cold and moldy? Don't they leak and need to be pumped out? Just asking.

Why is everyone is from (AMA) D5 or D6? Maybe I should move out there...

        Jason,

Just for fun, and never being one to shy away from a challenge, here are the conceptual team champions for all of the classes that I could calculate.

This is just to show you (all) what could be done to add some excitement for those who do not always make it to the podium.

This is only for fun and is not mathematically confirmed/accurate. It is only based upon the names of the top few pilots who also gave me data sheets. I cross referenced their AMA districts. (Interestingly enough, some top pilots did not know to which AMA district they belonged to!) This should really be calculated by adding up the top three sets of pilot-points per district, but I had no option other than to use the highest positions.

        AMA District Team Champions

        Intermediate Team Champs

        Position Name District

        5. Gary Courtney D-5

        6. Jon Lowe D-5

        9. Robert Green D-5

        Advanced Team Champs

        Position Name District

        1. Brett Wickizer D-6

        4. Keith Black D-6

        7. Chris Moon D-6

        Masters Team Champs

        Position Name District

        1. Ryan McLaughlin D-5

        3. A.C. Glen D-5

        4. John Fuqua D-5

FAI - Not enough prelims info readily available or district id’s to calculate three pilots.

As an FYI guys for next year….., IL, TX, AZ, OH and AR

        are not AMA Districts!!!!!!!!!

Just for you Jason, and as another FYI for everyone else -

        FAI progression was as follows for the top 5;

End of P-07 End of Semis F-07 Finals

        Jason Sean QuiQue

        Sean Quique Chip

        QuiQue Jason Jason

        Chip Don Don

        Don Chip Sean

Most interesting how the unknowns sorts it all out - Hamm?

I could see a future where a couple of pilots encourage a third or fourth pilot to attend the Nat's so that they would have a team of three and therefore stand a chance of winning the Nationals team award for their class.

        Regards,

        Eric.

          Eric,

I don't think it's unfair to ask George about this. There is no need to define a "team" or what the "team" would be flying against. There were 8 finalists (even though one was a Canadian) that flew well enough to be in the finals, and I would just like to see how we did in the P-07. Remember, the Team at the Worlds is determined by P-07, and hypothetically looking at P-07 we would see who did the best (in George's eye) in P-07. Again, please remember, this is all for FUN and nothing more.

Also, when are you going to have the District results for us Eric... it's only Excel...lol.

            Jason,

Ref. "Hey George, if you feel like it, how about posting the results of the Finalists P-07 rounds? See how a "Team" would have done."

It's a bit unfair to ask Georgie to do that because he can't do it unless you, a) define a team and, b) define what teams that team would be flying against.

At one time I was hoping that we would have District team awards in our FAI prelims and in each of the other classes. It would have been great to see which districts won a "National" team title. It did not have to be an AMA award but just like our district individual District champions it would have added a nice flavor. I think it was a wee bit too radical at the time.

You could do it now. All you have to do is add up the top three scores from each district in each class. You could do it in Excel in about four minutes if you had the results files and plugged in a district column.

            One for Rusty Dose perhaps?

            Regards,

            Eric.
