John, yes it is glass foam glass, but it is much more resistant to damage  
than planes like the Impact.  Yes I did own one of those too.  The  only place 
I've inflicted any damage to mine is around the cutouts for bottom  engine 
access and the pipe hole in the rear.  That's because my rear pipe  mount came 
loose and the pipe beat the crap out of the sides of the  opening.
