If you want to fix something, fix the biased contestant judging.
Now, that's irresponsible.
Believe me, if I heard about it from here it needs to be fixed.

First, the zeroing of the highest round for a missed judging assignment 
has been around since 1997.  Second, a missed judging assignment causes 
more than minor inconvenience.  Just put yourself in the place of the 
Nats event director who has to find one or more replacement judges 
before a flightline can start flying.  Third, a rebate doesn't cost the 
individual a dime if he shows up for his scheduled assignment.

I agree that determining who was actually in attendance could have been 
done better, giving more time to find replacement judge(s), but there 
will always those who never quite get around to finding out what their 
assignments are and don't show up to do their jobs.  The job of being 
the Nats event director is hard enough without giving irresponsible 
people who don't fulfill their jobs a free pass.  BTW, the 'big dogs' 
don't get a free pass - I zeroed the best round score of a member of 
the F3A U.S. team in 1997.
