Schedule design - Your homework assignment should you chose to accept it.

All,

I some what agree that the entry level class should have some changes...My 2
cents since back in the 90's I got out of pattern for the main reason back
then if you did not fly a YS 120 with 40% nitro and have a box of engines
for a 2 day meet you where not going to get points... I started with a low
wing type plane (sportair 40) in the New England Regional championships in
July 0f 88, and was not flying against the state of the art (back then) type
planes..( took 2nd place- in my frist contest)and Father and son's would
compete since it did not cost much... As time went on the turn around was
being flown and yes I'm for turn around and even in the lower classes with a
break like now in the entry level.. But how about a sub level of entry... NO
high priced planes or engines without turn around ! This way the average
club member could fly his weekend plane and get a taste of the competition
and fellowship of the pattern group without being blown out of the air by
the lattest flavor of the week... I fly both AMA and SPA and sat on the
committee for the new SPA patterns and we have changed them to advanced the
pilot thru the classes with out such a big jump... We had the SPA masters
here at KCRC (Knoxville TN) and had allot of club members fly novice and
some even took home prizes, ... I have said along time ago the we were are
own worst enemy by letting the high ticket stuff in the entry level AMA
classes.
Well thats my 2 cents and sure I'll take a shot or to for it..
