For most fields the site and number of contestants is a limiting factor. You want to run two lines to insure 6 flights in the weekend.

What would the options be to run two lines and separate the flight paths as much as possible?

How about maximizing the distance between flight stations/lines giving some relief at either end of the box? (I know one contest where I could reach over and pinch the judges for the other line...you know who you are.....vbg)
How about angling the flight lines to one another so you only have one line on the two intersecting planes where the aircraft may meet?

Just kicking some stuff around, I know of a couple of fields that cant accomodate either of the above right off the top of my head, but several fields could.

Here is what I don't get. Most of these midairs were at competitions. It would seem to me that the competition coordinator/ manager would set up the flight lines where there is no interference from multiple planes. It would seem to me that if the coordinator was held accountable for these midairs there would be alot fewer incidents. If I am flying a $2000 + bird I would make dern sure that my plane was in no jepardy of a mid air. These planes are way to expensive to become combat models. If I wanted to fly combat I would choose a much cheaper and more durable plane. Why don't we spend more time trying to make the events safer and less money and time building combat planes.
