Robart incidence meter calibration

I have several of these devices including the digital version that I use in
conjunction with the Robart ali-bars.

One thing that I did find was that the moldings of the plastic cases,
containing the needles and scales, all had a slight concave bow to them.
This proved to be what was causing the needle to stick. You can check it out
by unscrewing each screw a turn and seeing how much easier the needle
moves. The fix was to put some masking tape between the edges of the two case
halves. This then allowed needles to move very freely.

The second tip is to try them at the store. You can readily see if the
needles are "Sensitive" or not just by holding the packet in your hand. Buy
the sensitive ones. (No joke intended)

lastly the unit does not work properly if leaning over to one side, Try and
keep it vertical.

My "cured" ones will accurately show 1/4 of degree. They all agree with the
smart-tool readings. The smart-tool is a wee bit heavy and can/will cause
the support clamps to leave marks. I use it sparingly or to set up things
like the canopy deck is level etc.

I have the "laser" versions but they stick much more than the "needle"
versions.

Regards,

Eric.
