Hey Dean,

I am guessing that you may be thinking of dye stone, instead of plaster. Dye 
stone is much harder and may provide a smoother surface. I can't remember if 
I was talking to him or just read it in the KF, but Bryan Hebert said that 
he used some in the past to make  moulds for parts for his airplanes.

Is this what you are thinking of?
