Whoops¡Kexcellent suggestion, I was assuming you were already past that point. I wet sand with 1500 grit (used¡Ka fresh sheet will cut pretty quickly) until all the gloss is gone¡Kso that it¡¦s completely flat. Then rubbing it out is fairly simple (and you¡¦ll know when you¡¦re done! )

There¡¦s only ONE choice in my mine¡Klol You need to scan Ebay and find yourself an old Roto Shoe polishing kit. NOT the cordless kind¡Kthey don¡¦t have the power to rub out paint. The only plug in kind work tremendously. This is NOT the stand up type that you¡¦ll often see, but a hand held polisher. You can substitute any piece of cloth on the heads. It¡¦s still a time consuming job, but it becomes rather effortless¡Kmuch easier than a drill.
Also the speed is slow enough not to fog the clear.
Here¡¦s one that¡¦s on Ebay now¡K

Hi guys,
I just finish painting my 1st 2m pattern plane. I use to hand buff or use my only 12v electrical drill (with buffing pad) to do the job. It takes.. forever.....
Any suggestions for a better but economic tool?
Thanks so much

Try wet sanding first with 2000 grit paper then polish out, much quicker but be careful of sharp edges or you will sand through.
