Gator Wing Adjustors (Need Help)

4-40 is the size of all the screws, including the long one that's used to adjust the wing. I normally use a 4-40 nylon lock nut and save the small 4-40 nut included in the kit for locking the 4-40 clevis on control rods.

Subject: Gator Wing Adjustors (Need Help)
Anybody know what the thread size is for the mounting screws of the Wing Adjusters?
Anybody have any thoughts as to how this might have happened? I think I will start dabbing a drop of Lisa's fingernail polish on these types of fasteners in the future.
Upon landing my Focus, I noted that the gap between my wings and the fuse were unusually large. I noted that the $3,000 screw in the wing was backed all the way out and only held by the covering as it fell in my hand when I touched it.
I originally thought the screw was the problem initially, but heard something sliding around in the fuse when I picked it up. To my amazement it was the right LE wing adjustor. However, the nuts and washers are missing.
Very lucky, as this happened after a demo flight at our clubs Air Show for the city.

If they are real sloppy, then I would replace them. However, if there is a very small amount of play up and down (1/64" or less) then you can usually get rid of the slop by simply tightening the 4/40 bolt while holding the aircraft nut on the bottom. But, like I said, only if there is a very small amount of play.

Do these wear out and need replacing?
I've bought a used plane with these installed. It appears that 3 of 4 have
some up & down play on the pin. Are these replaced every so often or is
there a way to tighten them up?
TIA
