Proven fuel proof coating for field box?

I stained mine with Poly Urethane (from Lowe's), applied my decals and 
covered it with clear PU.  All brushed and sanded between coats.  I'm 
replacing one I built in the late 1970's with same type finish.  The old one 
was for my Kraft Tx's and the new ones don't fit.  Dwayne
