Two plugs - Neccessary?

And I thought platinum plugs for these Acura's we work on where expensive.
Acura TL  6 plugs installed  $228.00

  Last time my son flew his Mooney M20J Turbo here he had to have the plugs (8)replaced (power way down @ 18,000ASL, two plugs dropping out). Cost installed $580
