Andrew's crash

It makes me sick to hear about this type of thing.

Like Peter my first thought after reading the description was how could the
plane do a big loop and sheer the wings off if the PCM lock cut the throttle
to idle. The plane probably still would have been lost, but the danger
factor would be reduced. We can all imagine many scenarios where this
accident could have been much worse with the engine running at high speed,
I'm glad no one was hurt.

BTW, I have no personal info that Andrew didn't have PCM lock cut the
throttle other than speculation based on the description.

A few years back a boy was killed by a runaway plane that went into PCM lock
at high throttle. Over looking this when setting up a plane is real easy,
this should serve as a reminder for all of us to double check our setups to
make sure our throttles a cut to idle.

My sympathies go to all involved.

Keith Black
