Absolutely correct.  It could work.  It could serve to eliminate the 
middleman.  But, at least, keep him informed.  I used to have a calendar 
listing contests for scheduling purposes.  There were a surprising 
number of erasures/changes.  One problem could be when a CD schedules a 
contest, and he and the contest are both new.  He should have an avenue 
of communication so that he knows who to get ahold of for dates.  
Easiest person up to now, has been the D. V.P.  It works, if the VP is 
made aware.  If not, no doughnut. 
I well remember putting in for our contest dates here at High Point in 
January of years past.  (contests were usually in July)   A club officer 
did it, and he checked against the club calendar for conflicts.  But, 
other clubs weren't considered.  Only thing considered was the Nats', 
because I told them the Nats' dates.  It worked O.K., but just because 
of dumb luck.
