This very thing has already happened here in the greater Detroit area. At a
pattern contest last year, a flyer brought a giant scale plane for a demo
flight. A lone man of mideastern origin approached the pilot afterwards and
wanted to buy the plane, price of no concern. Some of the fellows quietly
talked among themselves and advised the owner not to sell. The immigrant
admitted that he didn't know how to fly it but he could learn. very
suspicious. Turns out that some of the IMAA pilots were also approached at
some of their events earlier. I was told that someone notified the FBI.
Let's see, a 33% Extra, with a DA150 should be able to carry 20 or 30 lbs of
Plastik. Could make a big bang.

  Dear Members:

  Because I am the contact person for our club, I was visited on Monday,
August 30 by a special agent from the FBI.  His primary concern was that all
of our club members be made aware of the following information: ''Be very
watchful of anything unusual around our flying field and to be wary of
anyone trying to buy our planes especially in large numbers or strangers
coming in asking us for information concerning detailed specifications of
our planes (Weight carrying capabilities, duration, etc.).''  I was asked to
please pass this information to all of our members.  (A duplicate copy of
this of this email will also appear in our newsletter.)

  In the unlikely event that any such thing should occur.  Please report the
event to me with as much detail as possible and I will in turn make a report
to the FBI.

  This is official FBI business and not a joke.
