webra 160 - meticulously clean

Jim,
 
Are you running the Johnson header that Central Hobbies sells?  If so
what length are you running it.  I saw that Matt K was running 24 inches
to the first baffle.  My header at full length only gives me 23.5
inches.
 
I have test run the engine and there are leaks where you say.  I will
rtv the areas and put hose clamps on the coupler.

I installed one headshim in the two Webra 160 (Aggressor and Lazulite).
I did not notice any difference in running, nor a compression reduction.


Also, I've gotten mine to be meticulously clean while running.  After a
day's flying, there is almost no need to clean the plane.  Simple, but
with some routine checks here are the steps: 
1.  Use RTV between the header and engine (check or redue once a month
if residue develops on plane) 
2.  Ensure all bolts are tight (no lie) (engine will still run with
loose headbolt) 
3.  Header & Pipe coupler:  I found zip ties to not adequately seal the
silicone coupler.  For instance, if you examine the plane and there is
exhuast residue on the plane before the stinger, then you have a leak
somewhere.  After installing small hose clamps, and checking every so
often, there is no "exhaust" residue before the actual exhaust stinger. 
4. Pinch or disconnect fuel line:   If you pinch the fuel line in
between flights, or just plug the line, there will be little to few fuel
drops exiting the carburetor while the plane is sitting.   
5.  Run exhaust stinger extension:

Motor does not come with head shim. Got 3 motors that way. I haven't had
a 
need to use them either.
