Video card to support new AFP Delux flight simulator

They may be newer, but if your video current card still rocks with Realflight a newer one may not rock any better. Just more expense. Overkill is overkill. Once you have more video card that the program needs, most likely a better video card will not give you any better performance, just cost you more money. Realflight is not the most demanding program around from a video point of view, so if it is the most demanding program you run, then not running the latest and greatest is not problem.

I recently moved from a Geforce 5200 128MB video to GeForce 5700 256MB video card. I do not believe I saw any better performance with realflight. Our flight sims do not have very many moving objects to handle. I upgraded for a different program that did needed the larger video ram.

I have the ATI "All-In-Wonder" RADEON 9700 APG with 128 mb and it absolutely ROCKS with RealFlight G2. I can run full detail everything at 1600 x 1200 and there's no hesitation at all. This card is probably about a year or more old so there are probably newer ones out there that are better.

Dion Cini at Ohio Model Products (US distributor for AFP Deluxe) has told me that my FX 5200 w/64mb will be fine...I'm still eyeballing a ATI9600, though....seems the higher processor speed and 128mb is really what makes the 3D engine sing...
nVidia processors now are up to 5900-series, if I've read price-watch.com correctly.

You can geta used NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 off ebay for around $40 plus shipping. These are 128MB APG 4+ video cards. Same company was the card you are using and at least 2 generations newer.

I need help from the computer literate. I would like to purchase the new AFP Delux flight simulator program. It appears my computer's video card will not support the program.

I pulled the spec sheet on my Sony computer. It is a Sony Vaio PCV-RX560 computer with:
        1.7GHz, 256MB RAM, NVIDIA TNT2 M64 (32MB) graphics acceleration.
Do I need to both upgrade the RAM and the graphics card?
What is a good "plug-in" graphics card that will do the job but is still fairly inexpensive?

        Thanks - Steve
