Nat,
A lot of home centers carry a self leveling material in their masonry aisle.  You mix it fairly thin and trowel it around to get it close, gravity does the rest.  It makes a pretty hard surface.

  It would be nice to be able to "pour" the surface and let gravity do the leveling. Concrete is too viscous and needs to be screeded.
