Anti Virus

A key point to note is the reason why Mac's are not targeted.
Virus developers are looking to 'make a name' for themselves, and the
only way to do that is through mass infection leading to notoriety. It's
really a big 'fame game', and the score is kept by how much publicity
the virus gets.
Since Microsoft OS's dominate the market, they provide the
biggest bang for the buck - it has nothing to do with whether there are
OS vulnerabilities in a MAC OS, or Linux, etc. Not many people use Macs,
so not many viruses target them. If Mac's become as popular as Windows
again.........look out!

Hi Jim,
Since '88 through '00, a bunch of times while running OS6/7/8/9.2,
although a whole lot less at the end than at the beginning (and never
as often as the comparable Windoz releases of the day).
Since I installed OS-X in 2000 about a dozen times (I'm talking
unplanned/unintended re-boots here, not the ones where you install a
new piece of S/W and have to do a restart as part of the installation
process). Applications can and do crash, but the operating system
runs on "protected memory" which pretty well isolates the system from
the application. OS-X (which is UNIX based) is incredibly stable.
BTW - my machine is on 24/7/365 so there is plenty of exposure time
for something to happen.
Thx, Jerry
