Depends on which transmitter and what
component shorted and how many are damaged. Some transmitter are expensive and worth the repair.

  Well an interesting thing happened on the way tot he field to get a trim flight on the new Focus2. I took the transmitter off the charger, turned it on to adjust the new aileron set-up and smoke came out of the transmitter. I guess something had a short somewhere. As reasonable as electronics are today, is it worth trying to get an unknown problem reparied or just get a new transmitter?

  Sincerely;
