I'm not sure when Chidgey first used the system, but my Dad and I built
several airplanes using that basic system with materials from ACP as early
as 1988 - and I don't think we were the first. Have since shifted to the
carbon fiber nyrods as they allow the use of threaded fittings and don't
rely on the glue joints.
