Focus 2 Elevator Pushrod

Scott..They are "springy", so I bound them close to the rod with string, inserted the rod as far as it would go, then cut the string..They pop out to the original shape so you can fiddle with trying to get the ends through the slots.

  I am having trouble with figuring out how to install the elevator pushrod as said in the manual on my Focus 2. When we bend the metal ends that go from the carbon fiber rod to the elevator halfs, it doesn't look like they will fit into the back of the fuse where the exit holes are. Any suggestions on how I go about doing this????
