Thanks Tony. I hope this is correct. I was initially told that all US
Citizens who compete in FAI were going to be included in the TS portion.

Thanks,

Jim

Jim:
As far as I know, the only increase in cost is if you want to be included in
the Team Selection portion of the event. In other words, only those who pay
the extra money will be eligible to be on the Team.

If you want to fly FAI and not be eligible for the Team, you can.

I have to agree with Gray on this. For those of us employed, we are already
skipping 1 full work week plus 1-3 days of the prior week. Total is between
5-8 work days depending on driving time. After the 2003 masters finals and
awards ceremony, Dennis S. and I drove the RV ½ way through Missouri before
stopping. I was home by Saturday night. This left Sunday for emergency,
unpacking, & nats-detox. I would not like to get home on Sunday, or
possibly have to take the next Monday off because of emergency, etc.
Believe me, it happens (2/4 trips have had road side emergencies). I think
MOST attendants will not be happy with having the banquet on Thursday night.
Previously, having it on Wednesday night allowed for those who wanted to
stay and watch some or all the finals flying, or start the trek home. The
ONLY people I know of who did not leave in some fashion on Thusday afternoon
or night were those who "flew" into Muncie or similar.

I believe it is quite reasonable for us (nats attendants) to expect some of
the format to remain the same. Also, do all the potential FAI pilots know
about the increased costs for entering FAI? I have my nats package, and the
additional cost was not mentioned. It will be quite interesting to see if
the "F" pattern used on Wednesday and the increased cost will "increase" or
"decrease" the FAI entrants. If the FAI entrants are decreased, then it is
possible the Masters judging will suffer.

Thanks,

Jim W.

Steve

That is a great benefit when you live 1 hour away. Me....16.5 hours..... if
I do well holding in my urine......I like the banquet but I just do not
think I am going to stay a full day more to watch the finals and go to the
banquet. I am not so sure flying on Tues-Thursday is good too, but I like it
better simply cuz I can show up one day later.
Trying to figure out how this is all gonna work.......

Personally one of the reasons I like the Nat's is to watch the final's, I
would rather fly intermediate and advanced Monday to Wednesday.
