May K-Factor

Mike:

As Derek said, it is much more complex than that! If we want a quality newsletter like we have now, a professional printing company will have to do the job. If we can go to a Xerox-type version, yes, we can do it cheaper for a small run.

Cost savings for shorter runs can be had by using digital printers such as the Xerox Docutech. It would allow us to do an internet newsletter and a printed to those that had to have one without all the makeready costs involved with conventional presses. These digital devices can also address as they are doing the printing inline. Someone still has to edit and prepare files but it would cut down on the cost problems were experiencing now. In our club those who choose the hard copy version pay an additional $10 dues per year. I'm glad to hear that this is on the Nats meeting agenda. Mike

The problem is that the cost to print 1,000 K-Factors versus 500 K-Factors is almost nothing! This is because the printers pricing structure is based on set-up charges. Once they get started printing, it is not much more in cost to increase the amount.

This will be one of the major items the NSRCA Board will be discussing at our annual meeting at the Nats in about 3 weeks....

    Thanks for your input!

      Dave:
This has been explained before, but I still can't quite understand the explanation. Simply put, the NSRCA says that there would be little saving in sending out the K-Factor electronically to those of us who would prefer it that way.
Still not sure why there's no saving..................

        Me too.

I am running out of room to store the paper copies.

I have been archiving the online version to CD for some time now.

I don't print any of them but I can if I need to.

To the Mailer of the K-Kactor,

I, for one, would be perfectly happy to get my K-Factor by e-mail ONLY. There might be a few others out there that feel the same way. Might save NSRCA A few bucks to be used better ways.

If this is 'OLD HAT.' Please forgive.
