I think this landing gear issue all started after a bad landing off field in Smithville contest last month, and he knocked the whole landing gear plate loose, which most likely played a part.. Charlie

During his third flight Charlie took off with one
fixed and one apparently not so fixed gear which
departed the airplane sometime during the flight,
though no one saw it. Primary purpose seems to be
shortening props on landing. Needless to say this
started a long and animated discussion about how many
other flyers also had screws loose.
