Nat,
I think it's head pressure. Not only do they ALL do it, they do it when
it's really cold out, when it's really hot out and everywhere in
between. When the level of the fuel in the tank passes the level of the
inlet tube(pick-up line), the pressure change from head pressure to now
having to lift that column of fuel up the line, even though extremely
slight, leans stuff out slightly and is even apparent in pressurized
systems. I could easily be incorrect on this conclusion, but that's my
take on what I think is happening.
