Luv them fixed gear.....
I guess after fighting the OLD style pattern planes YEARS ago with nose
gear retracts I kinda leaned towards the fixed gear now. FWIW... keep the
wheel pants fixed firm to the struts. Loose wheel pants or improperly
attached wheel pants can create trim issues that will vary at certain times
like in a pull or push. Also getting the struts on the right plane as the
stab and wing is important also. The biggest plus is how little maintenance
they require. I see my friends tweaking their struts nearly every time they
land and have to hook and unhook them. Plus worry about the servo working
or binding and draining your battery. They say its better if you have to
land off field with gear up. I say DONT land off field. Any way... the
Bolly gear I use is very forgiving yet resilient to damage. It will take a
pretty hard landing and spring right back to its original position. I
think the Bolly c.f. gear unlike aluminum gives more. Taking more of the
impact before taking out any of the fuse.
Luv-m-or-leavum.
