Battery Cyclers......need help

Hi Eric......The reason i didn't mention the standard Accucycle is due to it's top charge rate listed at 125 mah for a timed 15 hour charge. I'm leary about charging the big packs (1700-1800 mah) at this rate and not getting a full charge before the auto discharge cycle kicks in........hence an inaccurate capacity rating. That's why i was picking the Accucycle Plus.........I read that it's based on a faster peck detection charge which should handle the larger packs ,and l like the triple cycle feature.

I wish someone would make a cycler with a varible charge rate (for C10 charging) that will handle all nicad and nimh batts....Maybe there is such an animal out there.

Yes....You are correct......It's for home / bench use only......................J

John,
I have both the Accucycle and the Accucycle-Plus models.

I am assuming you will be using it from home. (Field-use requires a booster unit).

I use my Plus to charge my NiMH and Nicad packs relatively quickly. The regular charger seems fully charge them just a tiny bit better with its overnight charge.

The Plus has a triple cycle feature that works well for Nicads. It also charges the bigger packs just fine (Don't need the cycle feature on NiMH's).

The Ace charges use an approx. 16 hr timed charge. The Plus is different and uses peak detection circuitry. You will soon find out if your Nicads are in good shape with the mAh capacity left, readout when you discharge.

Regards,

Eric.

Well..........After about 20 years of use i've decided it's time to replace my trusty old Ace Digipace 1 cycler. It's ok for the smaller packs , but obsolete for my larger pattern and heli packs. My packs range from 250 to 1800 mah's.

I received a gift certificate to Tower Hobbies from my daughter on Christmas , and wondered if the Hobbico Acc-Cycle Plus would make a good replacement. Does anyone have experience with this? If you don't like it.........any recommendations?

Thanks in advance............................John
