To anyone interested
.
Sometime ago I thought it would be really neat if the contest scoring software I used was Windows based. I found some software written by Ola Fremming that was windows based but I didnt think that it covered what a US CD needed to easily and effectively run the average local contest.
So off I go thinking how hard could this be. Heck, Ive been developing business applications for over 30 years, Ive been flying pattern for 12 years, and Ive been a CD for 10.
In this process I started a version in MS Access and in Visual Basic. This ended up being way to large a learning curve for me. My experience is in mainframe computer business applications using Assembler, COBOL, and other mainframe technologies. So I ended up back with what I know best, COBOL and a relational database.
What has come out of this is something I call PACSS, Precision Aerobatic Contest Scoring System. Its nearly complete and ready for Beta Testing. Im looking for some folks to take the time to review and test the application.
Please remember that this was done as a hobby project and has all of the warts associated with that type of endeavor. Anyway, if youre interested, I have a web site setup, http://home.comcast.net/~pac-ss, where you can download a BETA version of the software. Please let me know what you think. Im especially interested in feed back from CDs to see if there is even any interest in using a different system to manage your contest.
Thanks,
