Excelleron with OS 91FX in Intermediate ?

Bob,
For me it was need. Originally I wanted a "knockaround" pattern plane maybe a 3D twist, the response I got to that was a very polite "are you nuts!". After rethinking my goals and listening to the responsed I received I decided on the Excelleron.
Reasonalble price, good quality and I hope good performance.
I am looking forwards to hearing about your experience with this plane. Any caveats or advice on a 120 2 stroke, cost is
a concern but so is performance.
Thanks,
Paul

The 1.20 class two-strokes in this airplane will probably provide the best power at the lightest overall weight. The ST is overkill, and added about 8-9 oz overall more than should have been there, because it starts out at 31 oz, then add the exhaust system. Most of the 1.20's, I think, are coming in at 31-33 oz WITH exhaust systems, and that reduces wing loading about 2 oz/sq.ft.
I'm ready to test hop, awaiting the header, which is in process. It is surprising to see this one design catch on so rapidly. Was it price? Performance?

I order a Tiger Shark 1.20 for my excelleron90. Should be about right.

Bruce,
Thanks, that's what I am concerned about. The OS 91 FX most likely will require a pipe to do the job and the Excelleron
is not set up for a pipe. I may have to resort to a larger 2 stroke engine. Bob Pastorello is using a Super Tiger 2300.
Not sure I wish to go that big !
Thanks,
Paul

I have a scratch built Typhoon 909 that weighs around 8 to 8.5 pounds. The "Littlephoon" has 909 square inches of wing, about a 70 inch wing span. I fly intermediate at 5500 feet MSL. The YS91 did not have enough to fly the Int pattern, because of the two maneuvers you mentioned. I put a YS 110 in the Littlephoon, and now I have plenty of power swinging a 15X8. I have no experience with the OS, but I would think the YS would be a little lacking.
See ya,
Bruce
