Webra Problems

Keith,
I also was using a Webra and I also fly with Gordon. I have never owned a
four stroke and when UAV offered the Bully's I immediately bought the 120
and then the 145. These also had their quirks but were great engines. (I
still have the 145) So having only owned two strokes and using them to fly
pattern for the last ten years I feel fairly competent in my tuning
abilities. But the Webra taxed those abilities to the point that after
fighting it for the entire summer and the last dead stick which resulted in
an off field landing which removed the fixed gear from the plane I said
enough was enough. So I removed the Webra and put in the OS 140 Rx, which
flew yesterday and performed wonderful. Now I can concentrate on flying
again instead of will it be running at the bottom of the Humpty.
Some history on the Webra is I was using the MC carb with the Futaba 9Z mix
programming. Bolly pipe, 16.5X12W prop and the Bully two plug head. And I
very seldom out of several gallons of fuel made a power on landing. This
motor had unbelievable power and always ran great on the ground. I believe
the pump is the problem but being so late in the year it is time to forget
the fiddling and move on. I can sympathize with Gordon and have witnessed
his frustration. We are both going to try to work this out but it will have
to be after the contest season is over.
I would like to hear from the group on their experience with the Mintors or
their knowledge of others experiences.
