How thick is a mil.?

A "mil" is 1/1000 inches, one one thousandth of an inch. There are 1000 mils 
in an inch.

Pappas is right about the light duty trash bag, except even these are around 
1 1/2 mils thick. Monokote is around  2 1/2 mils thick and ultrakote around 3 
mils thick

You have got me wondering why you need 1 mil thick pvc film? That's very 
unusual
 material
. What's the application
