Remote Glow Question

Dave Lockhart asked this question for me last night as my older bones were too weary. Short story is OS140RX, Perf Spec AAC piston/liner and Mintor dual plug head. Ground for the remote glow is on engine lug. Remote glow didn't work, we had continuity to crankcase BUT not head. Had to remove the anodizing from the Mintor head at the base of the glow plug the remote clip was on ( Tetra ) AND the head surface where the head shims/top of cylinder liner mate. Once done the remote glow worked like a charm. I can't believe I am the only one that ran into this, had us both scratching our heads. Upside is after 6 months of bad weather, winter, family commitments, a long drive from NY to NJ, a long night in Dave's workshop to finally fix the remote glow, my EMC finally flew. Required no trim, perfect up and down lines, no roll couple and 2% up elevator mix with left rudder, 3% up elevator with right rudder. Slight adjustments to expo and my EMC fits me perfectly.
Many, many thanks to Dave Lockhart for giving me the setup from his EMC's, the 3 blade prop and his moral support. I hate first flights, having Dave there to lend a hand guaranteed success.
Many, thanks to Dick Hanson for a super design.
With a little practice I will be very competitive in Masters District 1 with this plane. Will miss the "oh my" trim passes with my Elan though : ).

Let's keep in mind that the angled plug on the Mintor 140 does not really matter. You only need to hook the remote glow up to one of the two plugs. So if the angled plug is going to create a problem, then just hook up your remote glow to the straight plug.

It's 1:15am for you. This is not the kind of thing to be worrying about at that hour. All the remote glow ideas that were on this list earlier should work. I have a Wagner remote glow gadget on one and a spring loaded clip from the hobby store on another. The plugs are not angled, like the 140 so I think there should be no special problems.

Anyone using a remote glow setup on a 3M Mintor head?

      Thanks,
